Be Our Change

Many of us can agree that 2020 was one of the hardest years. Coronavirus caused people to lose their jobs, homes and loved ones. Time and time again, we would get messages from our viewers about our newscasts being filled with only horrible news.

We developed an innovative concept. A show filled with all positive, inspirational stories in the Permian Basin encouraging them to “Be Our Change.” The idea behind it was to “Be” something. Examples include: Be Passionate, Be Giving, Be Innovative, etc…

We also presented it on our website in a unique way with special buttons that people could click on to direct them to those positive stories. It was a hit with our viewers, fun and creative! As a result, we created a handful of these special shows.

Another extraordinary part of this project is that 95% of it was done by our Anchor, Monica Quintero. She buys her own equipment and uses two to three cameras for shoots including shooting herself. She helped design the graphics and they were created in special files so that she could edit the entire show in Adobe Premiere. She would also shoot, write and edit stories for other reporters and anchors at the station.
