“Food Bank Donations for Children in Trash”

The story uncovered numerous food handling violations inside a city facility that had been entrusted with providing meals to underprivileged children. The organization that donated the meals, the San Antonio Food Bank, attempted to verify a tip from a court employee that food was being mishandled but had been unable. Our investigation, which included using the city’s own surveillance footage, showed food was handed out wrong and in some cases thrown in the trash long before it expired.
