Judge’s Comments:
I truly found every piece to be very interesting and different from what I usually read, which was very refreshing. The hard part, picking one write over the other was, well, very hard.
After much contemplation I chose Bridget Grumet.
She tackled a variety of different issues with direct but respectful arguments. My own opinion is that some editorial writers have lost the sense of what hard hitting writing should be. Ms. Grumet goes quickly to the point, shows disparities where they exist and points to the direction she feels is correct. She lays blame where appropriate but does not insult. The chips fall where they may.
