Judge: Victor Hernandez

Judge’s Bio:

Victor Hernandez is responsible for overseeing all aspects of editorial at WBUR Boston, one of the largest and most decorated journalism institutions in public media.

As the organization's first-ever Chief Content Officer, Hernandez is charged with identifying how to grow WBUR's audience and cultivate the loyalty & community support essential to sustaining local journalism at a time of profound technological change. He directly oversees the station’s local news & programming, national programs, podcasts and live events strategies.

Prior to arriving at WBUR, Hernandez worked in leadership roles at Cascade Public Media, CNN, NBC broadcast affiliate stations, and a digital media startup. He's a former academic fellow at the Missouri School of Journalism and a national board member of the Society of Professional Journalists. Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication & Journalism from California State University, Fresno, and a Master of Science from West Virginia University in Media Solutions & Innovation.

He lives with his family and their English Bulldog, Benson, just outside Boston, MA.
