Mark Morrison

Mark Morrison joined the Headliners Foundation Board of Governors in 2011 and served as its Chair from January 2013-January 2020. In 2021, Mark and his wife Ellen endowed the Ellen and Mark Morrison Scholarship, which will be used by the Foundation to annually fund a scholarship to an outstanding undergraduate student (or students) pursuing a career in journalism. In 2019, Mark led the creation of the Foundation's Verne Lundquist Sports Media Institute, which provides programming and scholarships for high school and college students seeking careers in sports journalism. He currently serves as Governor Emeritus and Chair of the Lundquist Institute.

Morrison is the retired managing editor of BusinessWeek, a position he held for 12 years. During a 32-year career at BusinessWeek, Morrison worked as a reporter and editor covering a broad range of business, finance and economic subjects and appeared as a regular commentator on CNN. Previously, he was a reporter for The Houston Post.  After retiring from Business Week, he was a lecturer in journalism at the University of Texas at Austin for seven years.

He received a bachelor of journalism degree at UT Austin, where he was editor of The Daily Texan(’69-’70) in the era of Regent Frank Erwin’s chairmanship, the Vietnam War and student activism. He has served as a judge for national and Texas journalism awards, as a  member of  Texas Student Media trustees, Zach Theatre board, UT Austin College of Communications Council and the KLRU Community Advisory Board.
