Judy Oskam

Professor and Director, Texas State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication


Judy Oskam is a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University. She has served as Director since 2012 and was formerly Associate Director for Round Rock programs at the Texas State University Round Rock campus. Before joining Texas State University, Oskam was an associate professor at Texas Tech University.

Oskam has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/TV/Film from the University of North Texas, a Master of Science degree in Mass Communications and Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Oklahoma State University.  Earlier in her career, Judy was a television journalist for stations in Oklahoma and Texas and worked in public affairs/outreach positions for The University of Texas System and Oklahoma State University.

Oskam is a member of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Better Business Bureau serving the Heart of Texas.  She is accredited in public relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America and is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach.  Judy and her husband, Felix, have two daughters.
