Araminta Sellers

Araminta Sellers was appointed Executive Director of the Headliners Foundation in January 2016. She administers the Foundation’s programming to include professional awards, college scholarships, grants for research and educational initiatives, fundraising, and events that put a spotlight on the state’s outstanding journalism and the best reporters and editors.

With 20 years of experience in state government and communications roles, Araminta most recently served as Deputy Executive Director and Director of Administration at the Railroad Commission of Texas, the state’s oil and gas regulatory agency. Previously she was Chief of Staff for State Rep. Paul Workman, Director of Policy and Planning at the Texas Legislative Council, and held several other positions, beginning her career in the office of the late Lt. Governor Bob Bullock. She holds an M.S., Organizational Leadership and Ethics, from St. Edward’s University, and a B.S. in Public Relations from UT Austin.
