Anita Vangelisti

Anita Vangelisti is interim dean of the Moody College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin and holds the Walter Cronkite Regents Chair in Communication and the Jesse H. Jones Centennial Chair in Communication. She spearheaded the launch of Moody College’s first Option III graduate certificates and master’s program and increased financial support for students through graduate fellowships and stipends. Her research focuses on the associations between communication and emotion in the context of close, personal relationships. She has published numerous journal articles, edited and authored several books and served on the editorial boards of more than a dozen scholarly journals. Vangelisti has received awards for her work from national and international professional associations. She was recognized with the University of Texas System’s Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award and the College of Communication Teaching Excellence Award. She served as President and is a Fellow of the International Association for Relationship Research, is a Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association, and is a Fellow of the International Communication Association.
