Applications for the 2026-27 Headliners Foundation scholarships are now being accepted through Friday, March 6. All eligible student journalists are encouraged to apply for more than $100,000 in scholarship funds!

The George A. McElroy Scholarship
Fundraising is underway for the George A. McElroy scholarship. The $6,000 award, named in memory of Foundation Board member Kathleen McElroy's father, is awarded annually to a deserving undergraduate journalism or communication student attending a Texas college or university. George A. McElroy was an award-winning Texas journalist who broke barriers during his 58-year career as a Black man in a predominantly white industry.

The Headliners Foundation and legendary sportscaster Verne Lundquist have teamed up to establish an institute in Lundquist’s name to promote excellence in Texas sports journalism.
