The George A. McElroy Scholarship

Fundraising is underway for the George A. McElroy scholarship. The $6,000 award, named in memory of Foundation Board member Kathleen McElroy's father, is awarded annually to a deserving undergraduate journalism or communication student attending a Texas college or university. George A. McElroy was an award-winning Texas journalist who broke barriers during his 58-year career as a Black man in a predominantly white industry.
